Eleven HP laptops were handed over to the Carnival Development Committee (CDC) by the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications, Science and Technology on Tuesday.

The HP laptops will be awarded to various winners of the 2012 carnival events.

Minister of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications, Science and Technology, Honourable Dr. Edmond Mansoor said the donation is part of the Government’s commitment to the CDC to make sure that the Caribbean’s greatest summer festival gets bigger and grows stronger.

“We are delivering on our promises, and I know this has been a tough call; we are under enormous strain here at the Ministry to provision hardware to various Government offices. But thanks to Wendy Derrick and the team, we are able to present the CDC with eleven of these units.” Dr. Mansoor said.

On accepting the donation Chairman of the CDC, Kayode O'Marde said the CDC was grateful for the donation as the organization has been struggling financially.

“This year has been a hard year for us financially and all the assistance we have received so far we are grateful for these laptops are top class laptops… On behalf of Dr Ramsey I say thank you he worked hard to get these laptops for the winners and we are very grateful.” O'Marde said
